冬至是中国农历中的二十四节气之一,也是中华民族的传统节日。冬至白昼最短,黑夜最长。当天,北方通常吃馄饨和饺子,南方吃汤圆。
Dongzhi, the Winter Solstice, is one of the 24 solar terms in the Chinese lunar calendar and falls during the 11th lunar month, marking the shortest day and the longest night of the year.
It is one of the important traditional Chinese festivals. People mark the occasion in northern China by eating Chinese dumplings (jiao zi) or wonton, while people from the southern part of the country eat tang yuan which symbolizes union, harmony and happiness.
