3 Undergraduate Majors Approved

On March 21, the Ministry of Education issued notification about filing or approval results of 2017 undergraduate majors in colleges and universities. The three undergraduate majors of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages(TCSOL), Cultivation and Identification of Chinese Herbs, and Marketing were approved. So far, our university has 18 undergraduate majors and 5 disciplines, covering literature, medicine, engineering, management and science, which optimized the professional structure in further step.
Our TCSOL cultivates Chinese language professionals who have a solid foundation of Chinese and English language, strong Chinese and English expression ability and communicative ability, high humanistic comprehensive accomplishment, and professional knowledge and ability in cross-cultural communication, Chinese literature, Chinese culture, etc., mastering knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine, and are capable of teaching Chinese as a foreign language at home and abroad, spreading the culture of traditional Chinese medicine, so as to work in press and publishing units, enterprises and institutions.
Our university has been teaching Chinese as a foreign language since 1996, has rich experience in teaching practice, strong teacher strength, many cooperation with colleges and universities both home and abroad and set a practice base in TCSOL. As the first medical college to teach Chinese as a foreign language in China, we joined the Chinese Society for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign language (TCFL)in 1997. In the past 20 years, more than 1000 foreign students have been taught Chinese and Chinese culture for more than 10 000 academic hours. Exchange and cooperation covers dozens of foreign institutions and universities, such as Korea, the United States and etc.. We have has undertaken the teaching tasks as well from other domestic colleges and universities for example from Hebei Normal University. Exemplary practice base for postgraduate students majoring in TCSOL is also set in our university. The teachers carried out researches and studies in teaching and practice in TCSOL, foreign students education and management, language and cultural communication and etc., published dozens of papers.
