Gao Weijuan, the Vice Party Secretary and President of HUCM visited Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) on June 5th. Liu Li, President of BLCU, met with President Gao Weijuan and the two sides held friendly talks. 

Liu Li welcomed the visit of Gao Weijuan and her delegation, introduced the basic situation of BLCU, and expressed his expectation for cooperation with HUCM.

Gao Weijuan said that BLCU is the core base of international education of Chinese language and international communication of Chinese culture, HUCM expects to work closely with BLCU to build Confucius Institute for a better promotion of the international communication of Chinese language and TCM culture. 

The two sides also held detailed talks on teaching and research, Confucius Institute cooperation and the development of TCM culture promotion base. Chen Lixia, Businese Director of BLCU Confucius Institute, introduced the development of BLCU Confucius Institute and national TCM promotion base. Liang Yanmin, Party Secretary of Research Institute of the International Chinese Education(RIICE) in BLCU, introduced the basic circumstances, developing thoughts of RIICE and the development with its council.

BLCU has the longest history, the largest size and the most well qualified academic faculty. It was established in 1962 under the guidance of Premier Zhou Enlai. In 1974, Chairman Mao Zedong inscribed the name for the Institute.BLCU has established partnership with over 365 universities and educational institutions in 72 countries and regions. BLCU has co-established 18 Confucius Institutes and 2 independent Confucius Classrooms. In recent years, around 100 teachers teach overseas each year. BLCU is known as the Mini-United Nations; it is the only university of its kind in China that specializes in offering Chinese language and culture courses to foreign students.
